Welcome 2017 - Happy New Year!!!

Greetings,

All of us a Thread Bear Fabrics would like to welcome all of you to 2017.  I’m sure all of you arrived to the New Year kicking and stomping - enriched with self confidence, an air of anticipatory hopefulness,  while all the while spewing creative juices.   Right?

It’ only after a few weeks (some of us hours) when you start discarding those New Year’s Resolutions - that’s when the slide into mediocrity begins.   Since we have all been socialized into a goal oriented society, when you fudge on one of those “Resolutions” sadness is often the result.

The Bear has heard you – we are here to offer perspective - direction – to save 2017 for you.  Feel good allll year long!

New Years Resolutions – why do they have to be soooo draconian – eat more brussel sprouts, exercise more, lose weight, etc… -  people, people,  people – where is it written this tradition of New Year Resolutions has to  be an exercise in austerity - painful and often depressing when we fail.

I summit, if you are going to make those Resolutions – make ones that bring pleasure  - you are more likely to keep them ! After all The Declaration Of Independence uses the words “……. pursuit of happiness….”  Be American! Lets go stalk happiness with a vengeance!

Drink more aged scotch, Have More Sex, Eat More Chocolate, and of course Buy More Fabric.

Now these are resolutions I can live with – and  they are not too much of a burden to keep.  (Yeah, I know it’s a tough job,  but someone has to do it!)     If buying more fabric is on your list Thread Bear can definitely help you keep that resolution.  With a large and varied selection, economical pricing, an ever changing products, plus a helpful staff we try our best to make your shopping experience pleasurable.    We also put our fabrics on S A L E!!

Maybe December was just too busy for fabric buying, so we are extending sales prices into January - ALL bolted fabric inventory and pre-cuts are on sale!  Janet keeps receiving new product - 3 more boxes were delivered today and we need the room!  Janet is looking at all of the new collections and will be deciding on what to order for the first half of 2017 within the next week.    So come visit us and check out out our:

New Arrivals - Too much to list.  Just a couple of highlights:

Pumpkin Pie -The scent of a familiar dessert can awaken a strong emotion –something like Pumpkin Pie. With its vibrant color and mix of time-less, elegant prints, this collection will evoke a sense of warmth and tradition.

Janet really had to fight for this one - a highly   sought after Fall collection from Laundry Basket Quilts for Moda. We were able to secure yardage and pre-cuts (charms, layer cakes, jelly rolls).  This one is very popular and will go fast.

Pumpkin Pie Cottons

Pumpkin Pie Batiks

Pondicherry - The latest and greatest offering from French General for Moda.  Inspired by the colors of an 18th century French colony in India, Pondicherry includes small Indienne prints, floral block-printed designs and several larger paisley and border prints. The colors of “old India” come through with faded shades of indigo, deep magenta and classic red, while pale grey and pearl ground the collection. The collection is quite large (40 pcs) plus we were also able to secure pre-cuts (layer cakes, charms, and jelly rolls).

Pondicherry

Sew Inn - Every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesday of the month in the classroom side we clear the tables and sponsor a Sew Inn.  It is very laid back, free,  and open. Bring something you want to work on, or not.  Stay a minute or all day.  The ladies are a great group - accomplished, knowledgeable, jovial. You can solve the worlds problems, catch up on news, socialize, go out to lunch, and oh yeah, occasionally sew something.  Lots of fun - come see us.

News Flash - Just unearthed in our living room - 12 cases of fabric - all makes colors and textures.  Funny, how "discovering" 12 boxes of fabric has not quelled Janet's urge to order yet more!

In conclusion, with all the recent focus on “fake news” , I offer the following:

In a ground breaking experiment into the workings of the human mind, researchers have released data from an intense study of the concept of “perception” with some rather startling results.

Apparently, people who quilt are “perceived” as “more sexy” than those not exhibiting this skill.   “The fact this trend seems to transcend race, gender, and socioeconomic status is quite astonishing”. Apparently, quilting is the “new sexy”, said researcher Anon Correlation.

So from this reporters "perspective" - Next time your 20 something daughter whines, “Mom why do you like to quilt? It’s monotonous, boring, and hard.”   Turn your head toward her, slowly and deliberately blink, enticingly lick your fingertip,  and in your best sultry voice say “Its sexy”.

Until next time, keep slinging stitches and remember quilting makes objects of desire.

Happy New Year,
Janet + Randy
