Black Friday - Small Business Saturday & Cyber Monday All in One Sale!

Dear Friends,
Thanksgiving is almost here and as always, I sit and reflect over the years and count my blessings.  Every year presents new roadblocks and challenges, but isn't this just part of a life's journey?  When one looks back, it's easy to remember the very bad things that occur, but the good ones are the ones that make life wonderful.  Often we overlook the good ones as often that come in small doses and keep us moving forward.  The outstanding events in one's life like a wedding or birth of a child can be remembered by looking at a photograph and warm memories can be relived.  But if one really thinks about it, the good and bad are all intertwined together.  Many good things in life came about because of a devastating loss or life event just as many times of sorrow occur after a time of great happiness.  We all wish our lives to be full of joy, but sorrow and devastation also is an important part of a life journey.  If there were no hard times, we would not know that good is anything more than average.  So it is at this time of the year, I reflect and say thanks for all of the blessings bestowed upon me.

I have been truly blessed by the love and support of my family.  It is from them that I gain the strength to continue down life's path.  It was nine years ago that I was devastated by the loss of my oldest son.  It was on my birthday that I received the call that he fell through the roof of a building and that he was on his way to the hospital.  Many miracles occurred both before and after this event.  I was given the strength to make it through this time to comfort others while I was in deep pain and agony.  But then after all the formalities of a loss are over, you are alone to deal with your sorrow.  The ones closest to you offer comfort, but they are also trying to cope with a major loss.  Eventually, we all found a way to find comfort enough to move past.

It was a year after my son's passing, that I was still struggling that Randy let me start a project.  I was still working full time, but I had time away from my career that needed to be occupied.  Little did I know how my self-imposed "therapy" would change my life.  My project was the start of Thread Bear Fabrics.

Over the years I have been told that I was living my dream job.  Now I'm not sure that this is quite correct as running a small business is a lot of work with very little time for anything else.  But, I have met many wonderful people for all over the world.  Quilters are warm and caring individuals who give so much of themselves to others.   I still joke that if I make it to heaven, I am going to find my son and give him a swift kick in the ass for changing my retirement plans; but I have grown and discovered so much about myself in the past eight years that this is really a blessing that came from great loss.

So during my time of reflection, I encourage you to embrace your challenges and blessings.  Your journey is important and remember to share it with others.  A simple act of kindness will give you more blessings that the one who receives your gift.

Now on the the madness of the holidays.  Black Friday - it's the official kick-off to the insanity of the season.  For a quilter, many of our projects are in the countdown stages; but it's nice to start planning our next projects.  So with that in mind, below are the Black Friday (we're closed at the store), Small Business Saturday, and Cyper Monday specials.  The sale will be in effect with the release of this email and will continue until Monday, December 7th unless otherwise noted.  I have a good supply of all our our specials, so I hope you enjoy the sale.
