Although, serving our country is a serious undertaking, there are always moments of levity in almost every situation. For example:
As the war for Independence was finally over, General George Washington assembled the troops for the last time -
"Patriots, warriors, freedom fighters, gentlemen -whatever words I use to describe you pale in comparison to the heroic and monumental task we have accomplished.
It has often been difficult and many have not been in agreement with my decisions. I am thinking of you Captain Jenkins. I am sure you have often hoped you would live long enough to pee on my grave. Well you fought hard, survived and may yet still have your chance."
A rag tag grizzly looking seasoned soldier, Captain Jenkins in a loud voice interrupted the General saying,
"Actually sir, I promised myself once I mustered out never to stand in line again."
